Melbourne just around the corner!

10 August 2012

12,000 jobs have been lost in the state alone this year due to the manufacturing, retail and construction industries experiencing a very noticeable slump in performance. So it's no surprise that a record turnout of people who want to be their own boss are expected to attend the 2012 Franchising and Business Opportunities Expo's last annual stop, Melbourne.

According to FCA Executive Director Steve Wright, franchised businesses are an attractive option for many people considering working for themselves, especially those who have no experience operating a business.

"Franchising offers important business systems, recognised branding and marketing expertise that would be unavailable to independent small business owners,” said Wright.

More than 600 attendees from last year's Melbourne Expo were surveyed, indicating that food and beverages (40 per cent) and business services (29 per cent) were the most popular and sought-after business choices.

Those attending the show this year have the opportunity to personally compare a wide range of Australia's fastest-growing franchise brands from these food and beverage and business service industries – plus brands from health and fitness to maintenance, which all offer investment levels from as little as $10,000 to over half a million.

Attendees will have the chance to discuss their potential new business opportunities with qualified specialist franchise and small business bankers and lawyers at the Expo’s Franchising Advice Centre for peace of mind.

“Attendees can book these appointments upon arrival at the expo, ensuring they get the right financial and legal advice to help them take the next step in their business journey with confidence,” Mr Murray said.

The Victorian Government's Mobile Business Centre will be on-site too, providing free business mentoring and information sessions for small businesses in regional Victoria and metropolitan areas. It's the best way to gain valuable insight into marketing, finance, human resources, sales and industry knowledge.

Don't forget to visit the Expo's brand new Franchising Seminar Theatre to discover the secrets behind McDonald's successful Australian franchising model. The Franchising Council of Australia will also present a beneficial seminar containing tips on how to determine if franchising is the right choice for you.
