Mad Mex allows franchisees to capitalise on the Mexican food franchise’s exclusive niche in the Australian market.
American-born Clovis Young grew up eating Mexican food in Southern California from a young age. After various holidays to Sydney to visit his wife's Australian-based family, he noticed that Mexican food just wasn't up to the standard it should be.
"Initially I looked at the US, but it was too competitive to start a business, whereas Australia had a gap in the market," says Young.
In 2007, Mad Mex was born Down Under. It has gone from strength to strength ever since thanks to Young's commitment to developing a world-class business system for franchise owners to benefit from.
Mad Mex offers a full-service business model that provides franchise owners with everything: central kitchen, signature-quality products to sell, superior training and support, intellectual property, accounting systems, full inventory ordering system and point-of-sale services.
But the most prized benefits are the invaluable repeat customers. Mad Mex has an extremely passionate and loyal customer base across Australia, and Young believes this is an essential ingredient for business success.
"We did an exit survey of customers leaving Mad Mex, and 96 per cent said they would be back again."
Obviously, Mad Mex's proven concept generates exceptional revenue and strong financial results. It also creates a lot of interest from eager Australian's searching for a great franchise opportunity.
If you feel that you've got what it takes, you can visit the Mad Mex stand at the upcoming Brisbane Expo to determine if operating a franchise is a suitable career path for you.
"The expo is an opportunity to meet a lot of people and increase awareness in the marketing space. We're looking for people that are so obsessed with Mad Mex that they wouldn't consider buying another franchise brand – people that put in the hard yards, enjoy hospitality, have a bit of experience in the restaurant space and who want community and convenient brands."
Mad Mex currently boasts 20 restaurants Australian-wide, which will increase to 30 by Christmas. Young is an active partner and operates 35 per cent of Mad Mex.
Clovis Young's tips for potential franchisees looking for a new business:
• Business trends are important, so be on the right side of a trend or industry.
• Is the franchisor committed to running and operating the business you're looking at buying? Buy a franchise from a franchisor that is also operating the business themselves.
